Feedback, Q&A, and a game plan

Last week, I delivered the tiers, pricing, business case, and why most performers fail to gain traction over a year (using the Emotional Cycle of Change model).

Hopefully, you’ve had a chance to dive into that and start thinking about which tier suits you best.

This week, I want to share some of the feedback I’ve been gathering through early testing and conversations with long-time readers to help answer many of your questions.

Finally, I’ll wrap with a link to a 90-second survey that will give me a clearer picture of where you are and what you need for a more satisfactory and successful 2025 (along with a nice incentive for sharing your input).

Let’s dive in!

What others are saying about The Purposeful Performer

Q&A

Who is The Purposeful Performer for?

Volume I of The Purposeful Performer is specifically designed for the Level II Revenue Generator. If you want a deep dive into who exactly that is, you can read the breakdown.

How does this differ from your current newsletter?

The Be Focused. Live Great. newsletter is being retired at the end of this year (December 25th is the last run). However, everyone who is subscribed will be seamlessly moved over to The Purposeful Performer and you’ll start receiving the first lesson on Wednesday, January 1, 2025. It will not be a newsletter but a structured weekly companion helping you perform at your best. If you want more details on the structure and format, you can read the deep dive.

Is there a money-back guarantee?

Yes, for any adopter (regardless of tier), there is a big incentive: Double your base salary in total earnings or your money back. But, and it’s a BIG but–you have to fully comply with the program, which requires completing all 52 missions (for a minimum of 260 points).

If you request a refund at the end of the program, you’ll have to share your personal scorecard, and I will ask for additional information, such as W2s and/or paystubs (without any sensitive information) to verify the request. The goal of this policy is to create a sense of strong accountability on both sides–yours and mine. This program is not for the tire-kickers, wannabes, or Valley of Despair quitters. I suggest not signing up if you’re not serious about investing in your personal growth and undergoing transformational change. Obviously, things like company downsizing or losing your job are out of our control. We will take it case-by-case and figure out something fair in that situation.

How much time do I need to commit to the program?

The Purposeful Performer is structured around one 25-minute Pomodoro cycle per mission to meet the Baseline metric, earning you five points each time—for a minimum total of 260 points throughout the year.

Each time a mission is not completed, you are docked five points. And, of course, there are opportunities to challenge yourself to go beyond Baseline and capture accelerator points that require completing more Pomodoro cycles. Achieving the Baseline score of 260 points would translate to a minimum time investment of 1,300 total minutes (or roughly 22 hours) over the entire year. If you select Tier 2 or 3, that will involve additional time commitments for the group sessions and/or 1:1 coaching calls.

How will it be delivered? Where will I complete the missions and keep score?

Every Wednesday at 8:05 AM ET (just as the BFLG newsletter has been delivered), you will receive a “primer” email with “The Buzz” (basically a TL;DR for that lesson for the week). It will link to The Purposeful Performer website, where you can access the full lesson. At the end of each lesson will be a mini-mission to complete for that week, which will direct you to Notion (a free and easy-to-use tool) to work through it and keep track in your personal scoreboard.

What else can I expect?

My goal is to make learning and transformational growth fun. The focus is turning WORK into PLAY. I want this to be a delightful experience for every member, so you can expect some small surprises and Easter eggs along the way!

What is going to happen to The Make More Hustle Less (MMHL) Club?

Make More Hustle Less Club was always an experimental project (that’s why we kept the costs so low) and the long-term vision was to turn it into something more powerful. We didn’t want it to just be a run-of-the-mill community or another Slack channel that added more noise to your already busy days. It will continue to run as-is through March 31, 2025 (with some very exciting special guests lined up for the final three sessions), and all billing for current members will automatically stop by that date.

Tier 2 (The Professional) will be recommended for anyone who has benefited from MMHL Club and/or enjoys working within a group. That will launch in April 2025, and the new community space will be called The Performance Hive. The cost will be pro-rated for the year at a 9-month rate of $693 (vs the normal annual price of $924). We will run a promo price for $499 January 1 - 5, 2025 and capping membership to just 250 members in 2025 to ensure the highest quality experience for every member.

Who is best suited for Tier 3 (The Strategist)?

Tier 3 is for those who are dedicated to becoming a top strategic seller and desire 1:1 coaching and accountability to support their journey. The best of the best candidates are those who have already conducted recurring coaching calls with me in the past (you know who you are). To ensure the highest standards and honor my capacity, I am limiting this option to only 25 spots. We will also run promo pricing for this tier from January 1 - 5, 2025 (more details below).

How do I become considered for Tier 4 (The Diamond Program)?

The Diamond Program is a pay-for-performance program for select individuals where we work closely together on deal strategy and life transformation guidance. This is a very small group by design. I have already handpicked members for 2025, so there is no application process available at this time.

However, I may look to expand it and invite additional members to join in 2026. I will be selecting members of this prestigious group based on their personal scoreboard and our interactions in 1:1 coaching sessions (so those who choose Tier 3 have the best shot, but no guarantee, of receiving a future invitation).

Who are you? Why should I listen to you?

I entered the workforce in 2003 after leaving college early to join a soccer education startup in New York. Although I wasn’t in sales, it gave me a strong foundation in business acumen and innovative ideas on how to grow a company. In 2006, I started working in Manhattan in my first dedicated sales role as an Account Manager. From there, I climbed the ranks across multiple industries (media, IT consulting, and SaaS) and levels (SMB, Mid-Market, Enterprise, and Strategic).

Between 2018-2022, while as a strategic seller at a mid-cap public conversational AI SaaS company, I earned more as an individual contributor than I had in my entire career up to that point—combined. Through the adoption of design and systems thinking combined with my capabilities stack and being in the right environment, I learned to use my sales role to capture outsized returns and gain life-changing leverage. After consistently sharing my journey on LinkedIn, I was able to retire from the corporate world in March 2022—25 years ahead of society's schedule (and 10 years ahead of my personal timeline)—to teach others to do the same.

My approach differs from the typical sales voices you might hear screaming at you. Instead, I believe in building a calm path to a better life through purposeful performance. That's what I plan to unpack for you in Volume I.

How do I sign up? How can I take advantage of the promo pricing?

On Wednesday, January 1, 2025, everyone subscribed to the current newsletter will receive the entire first lesson of The Purposeful Performer: Level II, Volume I. This will give you a nice taste of what to expect going forward. You can select your tier in separate, subsequent emails (I try to limit my sales email sequences, but you’ll be getting more than usual from me that week). The promo price will only run from January 1 - 5, 2025, and will be limited to the following caps:

  • Tier 1 ($279/yr vs $439/yr): 100 members
  • Tier 2 ($693/yr vs $499/yr): 50 members
  • Tier 3 ($5,299/yr vs $6,780/yr): 25 members
  • Tier 4: N/A

If you plan to be on vacation that week, I recommend setting some reminders and alerts now to ensure it isn’t missed. The first promo email will go out on January 1st to those who complete this brief survey, and then everyone else who is subscribed.

After each promo spot has been allocated, the promo pricing will stop (even if it’s before January 5th). Then, standard pricing will be offered, and options to opt-in will occur with every lesson delivered starting Wednesday, January 8, 2025.

Can I expense this with my employer?

I do not recommend that you try to expense this with your employer. Instead, use your expense budget (if you have one) on other programs, such as AI prompt engineering, copywriting, or wellness programs. These will support this journey, expand your broader capacity, and help you build the leverage you need to transition to Level III.

I highly encourage you to invest your money into this program to make it more “real.” When I had programs covered by former employer, I didn't take them as seriously (and thus didn't get the most out of them) as when I had skin in the game. If any of these tiers seem “expensive” to you, I do not recommend that you invest in them.

What’s with the 🐝?

My wife, Lisi, started calling me “B” early on in our relationship. Somehow, “B” turned into the 🐝 emoji. In addition to that, in 2020, I was asked to co-lead “Project Beehive,” where I had the opportunity to reshape the future of work at my old employer under the guidance of organizational legend Peter Block (a former board member of LivePerson). Lastly, bees are pollinators and vital to our planet's survival. They are the ultimate Purposeful Performers!

See you next week!

LET'S DESIGN THE RIGHT PROGRAM FOR YOU
